🍪 Cookie & Local Storage Policy
This policy explains how Profile Sentinel AI uses cookies and other technologies that store information on, or access information from, your device when you use app.profilesentinel.shop.
The term “storage and access technologies” in this policy includes browser cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, cache storage and similar browser or device technologies.
🧰 Technologies We May Use
| Technology | Typical purpose | Where stored |
|---|---|---|
| IndexedDB | Device history and structured scan records saved locally in the browser. | Your browser/device |
| localStorage | May store interface preferences, settings or non-sensitive state where implemented. | Your browser/device |
| sessionStorage | May hold temporary state for the current browser tab or session. | Your browser/device |
| Cookies | May be used for security, session management, authentication or other functions where implemented. | Your browser/device |
| Browser cache | May temporarily retain static assets such as scripts, stylesheets, icons or images to improve performance. | Your browser/device |
The exact technologies in use may change as the Service develops. We will update this policy where material changes affect how information is stored or accessed on your device.
💻 Current Profile Sentinel Device Storage
Profile Sentinel AI currently presents a “Device History” feature designed to keep previous scan records in your browser using IndexedDB. This allows you to revisit locally retained scan information on the same device and browser.
Where implemented as described, this local device history is stored on your device rather than being intentionally persisted as server-side scan history.
🗃️ IndexedDB and Similar Local Storage
IndexedDB is a browser database that websites and web applications can use to store structured information on a user's device. It is not a traditional HTTP cookie, but legal rules concerning storage of or access to information on a user's device can also apply to non-cookie technologies.
Profile Sentinel AI may use IndexedDB to store device history, scan summaries, local preferences or related state where those features are enabled.
You should not treat locally stored browser data as a secure backup. Anyone with access to your unlocked device or browser profile may potentially be able to access information saved locally.
⚙️ Strictly Necessary or Essential Technologies
Certain storage or access technologies may be necessary to provide a feature you specifically request, maintain security, prevent abuse, remember a privacy choice, keep a session functioning or deliver core application functionality.
Where applicable law provides an exemption from consent for a technology that is strictly necessary to provide a service requested by you, we may use that technology without prior opt-in consent. We will still provide appropriate information about its purpose.
✅ Non-Essential Storage and Consent
Where consent is legally required before using a non-essential storage or access technology, Profile Sentinel AI should obtain valid consent before activating that technology. Consent should be freely given, specific, informed and indicated by a clear affirmative action where required by law.
Rejecting non-essential technologies should not prevent access to core functions that do not depend on those technologies. You should be able to withdraw consent as easily as you gave it.
🔗 Third-Party Storage and Access
Third-party services embedded in or connected to the Service may place or access information on your device under their own policies. Examples could include analytics providers, advertising providers, identity or authentication services, payment providers, media players or embedded content.
We do not state that any particular third-party technology is currently active unless it is actually implemented. Where third-party non-essential technologies are introduced, we will seek to provide appropriate information and consent controls where required.
📈 Analytics and Advertising
If Profile Sentinel AI uses analytics solely in a manner that qualifies for a legal exemption, we may rely on that exemption where applicable. If consent is required, analytics will be activated only after the required consent has been obtained.
Advertising, behavioural profiling, cross-site tracking and similar technologies will not be treated as “strictly necessary” merely because they support the commercial operation of the Service. Where consent is required, such technologies must remain disabled until valid consent is obtained.
🎛️ How You Can Control Stored Information
You can control device storage in several ways:
- Use the Profile Sentinel “Clear device history” control where available.
- Use browser settings to inspect or delete site data for app.profilesentinel.shop.
- Block or restrict cookies and site storage using browser privacy settings, understanding that some core features may then stop working.
- Use any cookie or privacy preference centre made available by the Service.
- Withdraw consent for non-essential technologies where a consent mechanism is provided.
Deleting local browser data is device- and browser-specific. Removing data on one device may not remove data stored separately on another device.
⏱️ Storage Duration and Retention
Local device data may remain until one of the following occurs: you clear it through the application, you clear browser/site data, the browser evicts stored data, a configured expiry mechanism removes it, or the Service changes how the feature works.
Session-based technologies normally expire when the relevant session or browser context ends, although exact browser behaviour can vary.
Any server-side logs or personal data are governed by the Privacy Policy and are not described as “local storage” merely because a browser was used to transmit them.
🔐 Security and Shared Devices
Local storage can improve privacy by keeping certain information on your device, but it is not inherently confidential. If you use a shared, public or compromised device, other people may be able to access browser history or locally stored application data.
Use appropriate device security, lock your screen, keep your browser updated and clear local history before giving another person access to a shared device where the stored information is sensitive.
🔄 Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when we change the technologies used by the Service, add new features, change vendors or respond to changes in law or regulatory guidance.
The effective date will be updated when this policy changes materially. Where legally required, we will seek fresh consent before using a technology for a materially different non-essential purpose.
